Introducing George Woods as THE FEARLESS LEADER via Lindsey Sampson

Dear, dear friends. The search is over! I'm so excited to announce that our friend George Woods will be taking the helm of EBASS. I'm so excited to have someone in leadership with deep roots in the Boston music world and a fresh, exciting vision of flourishing for this community.

You can find a note from him below. Give a warm welcome to George, everyone!

Hello EBASS!

George Woods here. I am very excited to be taking on a bigger role in this community, and attempting to fill Lindsey Sampson's shoes. I know that a lot of you know me already from the Lizard Lounge Open Mic, but I’m sure many of you don’t. (For those of you who don’t know me, I put a bio after all of this.)

I’ve got some exciting ideas of how we can take this awesome community and create more events to gather, network, and make music together. Sometime soon, I’ll definitely be asking for your help enacting these things, but first… I come bearing gifts!

Starting this September EBASS will be teaming up with Article 24 in Brighton to launch its very first OFFICIAL EBASS OPEN MIC. The event will run every other Monday from 8:00pm - 9:45pm, at what is truly a beautiful little gastro-pub with a soft spot for local artists.

“AWESOME!” You might be thinking how do I sign up? Well, also coming very soon in mid-August we will be launching EBASSmusic.org where you will be able to do just that, and soon more. The website will eventually be a home for all sorts of things, including free resources for local musicians, and our event calendar.

I can’t wait to help create spaces for all of you fantastic people to gather and build some beauty.

Here’s a little Bio on me:

If you like melodies that dance, and tap you on the shoulder when you’re lonely. If you like lyrics that slide through your ears and drench your brain, but you also like to shake your ass and scream at the ceiling, then you’re in the right place. George Woods is a Boston-based artist who has been bringing his sound to the clubs of the greater New England area for over a decade.

You might know George from one of the many hats he has worn in the Boston Music Scene; the host of the Lizard Lounge Open Mic (2017-2020), a Professor of Songwriting at the Berklee College of Music (2018 - Present), your sound guy at the Burren, or the guy who produced your friends EP. You might have been one of the 2000+ people to attend his theatrical music and modern dance rock opera "Heartbeat" at the OBERON in Cambridge between 2013 and 2015, or even seen him on TV competing on “Community Auditions” that one time. Point is… the dude has been around.

Since 2018, working in collaboration with EBASS founder Hailey Magee, George has been taking his personal spin on the songwriting curriculum at the Berklee College of Music to musicians locally and across the USA via his 5 week “SongCrafting” Workshops. Each class features specialized content to help writers gain real world solid technique and craft in their art, work through writer’s block, and learn how to edit their writing to personal perfection.
